Templates for Joomla! 5.x • file browser not loading, hangs

Using latest helix ultimate on 5.0.3 and when trying to change site logo in template editor the select files button opens a windows where I am supposed to select a new logo but all I see is a circle going around waiting to load the page. What could cause this?

Not sure if console message is related but this shows up in red:
